Adopt-a-Bird

Contribute to the Adopt-a-Bird program to help save the habitat for our Texas Songbirds. Bird lovers can make a tax-deductible contribution of any amount and adopt a Golden-cheeked Warbler or Black-Capped Vireo. An origami bird with the donor’s name will be displayed at the Refuge Headquarters. Funds raised from the Adopt-a-Bird program will benefit education and recreation opportunities at the Refuge. All donors to the Annual Campaign will be included in the Adopt-a-Bird recognition area.

Land Conservation

Friends of Balcones is dedicating this fundraising campaign to developing matching funds to complete the acquisition of sixty acres of land that includes prime Golden Cheeked Warbler habitat, adjacent to the Flying X Ranch in early 2013..We won a competitive grant for Golden Cheeked Warbler conservation from the Lady Bird Johnson Wildlife Center totaling $136,484 this October. This will be the first land purchase transaction that Friends of Balcones has directly partnered with USFWS.

Consider Friends of Balcones in your estate planning. You can help preserve the Hill County for generations to come by including a gift to Friends of Balcones National Wildlife Refuge - in your will.   • Donate to our general Fund
    Give a general, gift or memorial donation. Or direct your donations to specific funds. While Land Conservation is our top priority we also have Educational Program Projects that need $$$ to match grants.
  • Conservation Giving Program
    Donations will be used specifically to purchase land or conservation easements for Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge located in Central Texas. More details........
  • Carbon Sequestration
    The Friends need your help to preserve endangered Golden-cheeked Warbler Habitat and reduce greenhouse gases by donating to our Conservation Giving Program. This land will help protect critically endangered species while helping individuals and groups achieve a carbon neutral footprint. More details.....
  • Balcones Songbird Festival 
    An ideal cause for businesses to take advantage of event media. This project is a massive undertaking and takes over $17,000 to execute. More details.......
