Training- Going Buggy

Every spring the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge brings over 1000 5th grade students to Doeskin Ranch to learn about Environmental Education.

The two programs (Bridges to Birding & Going Buggy) adhere to the TEKS guidelines and coordinate with classroom curriculum.

The children visit the Refuge during the week (Monday-Friday) in April and May.  Some classes may be added in March.  You as a volunteer would be expected to be at Doeskin Ranch form 8:30 am until about 1:00 pm.

We will be training new volunteers to teach these classes in February.  We would expect a commitment to Balcones Refuge of at least one day this spring.

The training will be held at the Flying X Ranch Tuesday, February 16 (Bridges to Birding) and Thursday, February 18 (Going Buggy).  The training will run from 9 am until noon.  Snacks and water will be provided.  It is expected that this will count as Advanced Training for Master Naturalists.
