Erik BruhnkeERIK BRUHNKE

Erik Bruhnke has loved birds since he was a child. Since graduating from Northland College (Ashland, WI) with a Natural Resources degree back in 2008, he has traveled the country conducting a wide variety of bird surveys. His avian field experiences have taken him throughout many of the northern states; including North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, Montana, the northern forests of Wisconsin & Minnesota, as well as the Cascade Mountains & coastal regions of Oregon. Over the past six fall seasons, Erik has educated visiting birdwatchers and pointed-out migrating raptors & songbirds at Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory in Duluth, MN. He assists the Duluth spring raptor count.

Outside of field work, Erik has taught field ornithology over various years at Northland College. He is a board member of the Duluth Audubon Society, and has spoken & led field trips throughout many nationally-recognized birding festivals. His wildlife photos have won several national photography contests. Erik resides in Duluth where he offers year-round birding tours and bird identification workshops through his business, Naturally Avian. Although he loves all birds, Erik is a devoted raptor and gull nerd.

Dustin McCoyDUSTIN MCCOY

My name is Dustin McCoy. I have been in love with falconry since I was very young. Hunting with a bird of prey is a great way to slow down and enjoy every second of a hunt. I have hunted game by every means possible and it just seems natural to take a step back and really hunt with one of natures most accurate weapons. I am but the bird dog and flusher on the hunt most of the times.

I’ve been practicing falconry since 2006 and am a member of The Texas Hawking Association. I currently serve on the board as the Apprentice Coordinator and enjoy helping newly interested people learn more about this sport. I have flown Red tails, Coopers Hawks, Kestrels, Red Shouldered Hawks, Prairie Falcons, and both passage and captive bred Harris Hawks. I really like the Red tails the most for their constant drive and quick ability to learn and become very proficient.
